Slash commands inside HighLevel

When you run Wazzap connected to HighLevel, you get a set of slash commands that work right from the GHL Conversations tab and from any Workflow. Type them in the message box, hit send, and Wazzap reroutes the chat, tags the contact, or skips automation in real time.

Overview

These commands are exclusive to environments with the HighLevel CRM integration active. They give your team a chat-native control surface, no separate UI, no extra clicks, no context switch. Type the command in the same place you write to the customer, and Wazzap does the rest.

Commands are never delivered to the customer. They're consumed by Wazzap, executed, and removed from the conversation transcript on WhatsApp's side.

Where commands run

  • Conversations tab. Useful for live triage by humans, send a quick command mid-conversation to flag, transfer, or tag.
  • Workflows. Drop a "Send WhatsApp" action with a command in the body to automate routing decisions on lead capture, pipeline stage changes, or follow-ups.

Command reference

/mention

Pings a specific staff member without sending a customer-facing message. Use it to escalate a thread silently.

/mention @maria Need help on the refund question

Maria gets an internal notification inside HighLevel. The customer sees nothing.

/staff

Lists the agents currently watching the conversation. Helpful when you're not sure who's already on it.

/staff

/transfer

Hands the conversation to another agent or team. The new owner gets a notification and the contact's assigned-user field updates in GHL.

/transfer @sales-team
/transfer @diego

/skip-auto

Pauses the AI assistant or any workflow-driven auto-reply for this conversation. Use it when a human needs to take over without unplugging the automation globally.

/skip-auto

To re-enable automation, run /resume-auto in the same thread.

/pin and /unpin

Pins the conversation to the top of the inbox so it doesn't get lost during a busy day. Useful for VIP customers and active deals.

/pin
/unpin

/tag and /untag

Apply or remove a HighLevel tag from the contact, in the flow of conversation.

/tag warm-lead
/untag cold

/note

Writes an internal note on the contact record without sending anything to WhatsApp.

/note Customer asked for the enterprise tier; following up Monday

Using commands in Workflows

Inside a HighLevel Workflow, add a Send WhatsApp step and put the command in the message body. Wazzap intercepts it and executes the action instead of broadcasting it.

  1. Build a workflow triggered by, for example, a new lead form submission.
  2. Add a Send WhatsApp action.
  3. In the body, write /tag inbound-form followed by your real reply on the next message step.

Chain commands with sends to build powerful routing logic. Tag on intake, transfer based on tag, pin if the lead opens a high-ticket page, all without humans in the loop.

File-size limits

Some workflow actions and Conversations sends have file-size limits enforced by HighLevel itself. When a file is larger than the inline limit, HighLevel automatically uploads it to the media library and the send still goes through.

Troubleshooting

The command was delivered to the customer as plain text

The conversation isn't routed through Wazzap. Confirm the HighLevel integration is connected and the sub-account is mapped. If the contact has multiple channels, make sure the message went out on the WhatsApp channel, not SMS or email.

/transfer doesn't change the assigned user

Check that the @ handle matches a staff member that exists in the HighLevel sub-account. For teams, use the team slug exactly as it appears in Settings, My Staff.

Workflow command runs but nothing happens

Open the workflow's execution log and confirm the WhatsApp action returned "sent". If it failed silently, the Wazzap number on that sub-account is probably offline. Re-scan the QR.
